Rebecca Channing Morris married Clayton Edward Childs in a ceremony performed at 5:00 p.m., July 20, 2019, in Crested Butte, Colorado at Ten Peaks atop Mount Crested Butte.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Gideon Morris of Atlanta. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John G. Morris of Geneva, Alabama and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Richard White of Decatur, Georgia. The groom is the son of Mrs. Lawrence Ira Higdon and the late Mr. Otis Lee Childs III of Thomasville. Mr. Childs is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Otis Lee Childs Jr. of Decatur, Georgia and the late Mr. and Mrs. James M. Collier of Dawson, Georgia.
The ceremony was performed by the Reverend Timothy Clark. Readers were Lynn Morris Fishburne, sister of the bride and Erynne Daigneault, a friend of the bride.
The Maid of honor was Kristina Renee Zelisko of Atlanta. Bridesmaids were Sara Scheible Bernhardt, Laura Young Morgan and Melanie Reusch Thompson of Atlanta; Blair Flowers Butler of Dallas, Texas, Ashley Foerster Hughes and Kristel Isakson Watson of New York City; Elizabeth LaCour of Munich, Germany; Kelsey Holder Robinson of Washington, D.C.; Catherine McCalley Shaw of Charlotte, North Carolina; Isabel Vandeventer of Denver, Colorado; Emily Childs Brinkley and Elizabeth Leigh Childs, sisters of the groom of Atlanta.
The groom's best men were Lawrence Ira Higdon and Zak Bush Johnson, formerly of Thomasville and now of Atlanta. Groomsmen were Dustin Eli Anderson of Boston, Georgia; Chad Allen Anderson and Kenneth Christopher Hagan of Tallahassee, Florida; Robert David Carrol and Eric Michael Katz of Atlanta; Cameron Sims Harris and Jordan Peter Weber of Denver; Nick John Poteat and Wilbur Woodrow Thompson of Asheville, North Carolina; and John Gideon Spencer Morris and William White Clifton Morris, brothers of the bride, of Atlanta.
Flower girls were Charlotte Joan and Lane Florence Brinkley, nieces of the groom. Serving as ushers were Junius Quinn and Rodes Beckett Fishburne of San Francisco, California, nephews of the bride.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white tulle gown designed by Lela Rose with corded lace embroidery and seed pearls with matching full length veil. She carried a traditional hand tied bouquet of white and ivory blooms of roses, peonies, hydrangeas with blue thistle and scabiosa for accent.
The couple was united under a bright blue sky with a magnificent backdrop of the Crested Butte mountains. Dinner and dancing followed inside a beautifully decorated tent to the tunes of their favorite band.
The newlyweds reside in Denver, Colorado and will honeymoon in Thailand this December.
